Hi and welcome to the 65th episode of the Language Meanderings podcast. My name is Jonathan and today we’re going to talk a little about reading comprehension strategies.

Learn vocabulary with synonyms and antonyms. Consult a thesaurus.
Be sensitive to context clues and identifying basic parts of speech such as nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs.
Be sensitive to the choice of words and tone of voice.
Read often and notice the same vocabulary in multiple contexts.
For tests like the TOEFL, TOEIC, and IELTS, don’t read the reading comprehension texts as if they were for pleasure. Focus your attention on just the information needed to answer the questions.
Pay attention to sentence structure and the variety of sentences in paragraphs.
